A member of the mint family, Hyssop contains a highly aromatic oil in its leaves, stems, and flowers. Medieval Monks favored the herb using it in an herbal wine, and to spice-up their soups and sauces. In Biblical times, Hyssop Tea was looked at as a holy tea. People believed that drinking Hyssop Tea acted as a soul cleanser. Drinking Hyssop Tea can also promote the body to expel phlegm and other waste that can build up in the lungs and cause breathing difficulties, especially in the cases of colds and flus. Steeping Directions:
Pour one cup of fresh boiling water over tea, steep 4-6 minutes. The longer the tea steeps, the stronger the flavor. Lemon or honey may be added.
