History & Health:
Traditionally known as a folk medicine, alfalfa tea has been consumed for years by many cultures throughout the world. The name ‘alfalfa’ originally comes from the Arabians, who called it al-fal-fala, which means father of the foods. The Spanish later shortened it to ‘alfalfa.’ Today, Alfalfa is also referred to as Holy-Hay and Lucerne. In India, Alfalfa Tea is believed to relieve water retention and help to treat ulcers and arthritis. Colonial Americans used it to help fight scurvy, arthritis, and urinary problems. In China, alfalfa tea is used to stimulate the appetite and relieve complications with the kidneys. Seelect Tea’s Alfalfa Tea is rich in Vitamins A, C, D and K and also contains potassium, phosphorus, iron, and magnesium. Other great herbal teas by Seelect Tea include St. John’s Wort Tea, Organic Red Clover Tea, and Uva Ursi Tea.
